How to Update Your Udyam Registration Certificate

A step-by-step guide — free on the official government portal

If your business address, activity, investment, turnover, or contact details have changed since you first registered, you need to update your Udyam Registration Certificate — not create a new one. Here's exactly how, in six steps.

Do not create a fresh Udyam Registration if you already have one. A single business should have only one active Udyam Registration Number — use the "Update" option, not "New Registration."

Step-by-Step: Updating Your Udyam Certificate

1
Visit the official Udyam portal

Go to udyamregistration.gov.in and select the "Update/Cancel Udyam Registration" option, not the new registration form.

2
Enter your Udyam Registration Number

Type in your 19-character Udyam Registration Number (URN) exactly as shown on your original certificate.

3
Verify with OTP

An OTP is sent to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar used at the time of original registration. Enter this OTP to unlock edit access.

4
Edit the required fields

Update whichever details have changed — business address, mobile/email, NIC activity codes, investment in plant & machinery, or annual turnover.

5
Review before submitting

Double-check every changed field, since incorrect figures can shift your enterprise category (Micro/Small/Medium) automatically.

6
Submit and download the updated certificate

Once submitted, the system regenerates your certificate with the new details and the same Udyam Registration Number — download and save the updated PDF.

What You Can Update

  • Business/trade name and registered address
  • Mobile number and email address
  • NIC codes for business activity (manufacturing/services)
  • Investment in plant & machinery or equipment
  • Annual turnover figures
  • Bank account details

Why Your Enterprise Category Can Change

Micro, Small, and Medium classification is calculated automatically from the investment and turnover figures on file. If your turnover has grown past a threshold since your last update, your certificate may reclassify from, say, Micro to Small — this is normal and simply reflects your business's real growth. Keeping figures current ensures you're applying for the correct scheme benefits for your actual size.
